MLEvol - Continuous and Efficient Evolution of ML Systems: an Ecosystem-driven Approach (2025 - 2029; Work package leader). An National Project (PID2024-156019OB-I00). MLEvol develops Software Engineering methods, practices, and tools to foster the continuous and efficient evolution of Machine Learning Systems (MLS), adapting their MLOps life cycle to a fast-moving ML ecosystem.
HIVEMIND - Human-centred collaboratIVE MultI-ageNt framework for accelerating software Development and maintenance (2025 - 2027;Task leader). An European project (Horizon Europe, Grant agreement ID: 101189745). The key objective of the EU-funded HIVEMIND project is to improve software development by supporting software development teams through AI, data and language technologies. To this end, LLM-based AI agents will provide specialised support in all steps of the software development lifecycle, assisting in requirements engineering, code development, verification and testing as well as in software maintenance. The resultant multi-agent framework will be open-source and applicable to various sectors.
FIREPRIME - European Programme for Wildfire-Prepared Communities (2024 - 2026, Researcher). Funded by the European Union Civil Protection (Project GA101140381, FIREPRIME UCPM-2023- KAPP). FIREPRIME will establish the foundations of an EU-wide programme that promotes a culture of fire resilience among wildland-urban communities in Spain, Sweden, and Austria. The project will design a pilot architecture and governance programme and will develop and implement a comprehensive toolkit of resources that includes a smartphone app, guidelines, checklists, and educational materials aimed at enhancing wildfire resilience in three critical targets: households, communities, and infrastructure.
IMPaCT-Data - Programa de Ciencia de Datos de la Infraestructura de Medicina de Precisión asociada a la Ciencia y la Tecnología (2021 - 2023, Coordination team, Researcher). A National Project (Exp. IMP/00019) funded by the Carlos III Health Institute and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER). IMPaCT-Data is the IMPaCT program that seeks to support the development of a common, interoperable and integrated system for the collection and analysis of clinical and molecular data, providing this with the knowledge and resources available in the Spanish Science and Technology System. This development will allow answers to research questions based on the different clinical and molecular information systems available. Fundamentally, it aims to ensure that researchers have a population perspective based on individual data.
HealthyCloud - Health Research & Innovation Cloud (2021 - 2023, Researcher, Task leader). An European Project (H2020, Program SOCIETAL CHALLENGES - Health, demographic change and well-being, Contract Nr. 965345). The design of a health research and innovation cloud (HRIC) data portal that is FAIR – findable, accessible, interoperable and re-usable – and respects legal and ethical requirements is one of the key goals of the EU. Contributing to this field, the EU-funded HealthyCloud project will deliver a strategic agenda including a ready-to-implement roadmap for the HRIC ecosystem. The project will use two real-world use cases in cancer and atrial fibrillation, and its work will lead to an ecosystem proposal that builds and strengthens the patients' and citizens' trust in using their health data for research.
EOSC-Synergy - European Open Science Cloud - Expanding Capacities by building Capabilities (2019-2022, Researcher). An European Project (H2020; Topic Support to the EOSC Governance, Contract Nr. 857647) coordinated in the IBERGRID framework. The project builds on the expertise of leading research organizations, infrastructure providers, NRENs and user communities from Spain, Portugal, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Netherlands, United Kingdom and France, all already committed to the EOSC vision. EOSC-synergy complements on-going activities in EOSC-related projects liaising national bodies and infrastructures with other upcoming governance, data and national coordination projects.
VISDOM - Visual software diagnostics (2019-2022, Researcher). An European Project (ITEA3, Project Nr. 17038; C-11420) that will will develop new types of visualisations that utilise and merge data from several data sources in modern DevOps development. The aim is to provide simple “health check” visualisations about the state of the development process, software and use.
GENESIS - Generación y Evolución de Smart APls (2016-2020, Researcher). An National Project (TIN2016-79269-R) that will follow a tool-supported data-driven approach to improve the automation of the above process. In a release cycle, data coming from both APIs' usage and developers will be gathered and analysed in order to compute several indicators whose analysis will guide the planning of the next release of such APIs. This data will be also used to generate complete and accurate documentation, including non-functional requirements that will facilitate the adoption of the APIs by third parties. APIs will be organized in a semantic repository with well-defined processes around.
Q-Rapids - Quality Aware Rapid Software Development (2016-2019, Work Package Leader). An European Project (H2020, Topic Advanced Software Engineering, Contract Nr. 732253, E-01372) addressing how quality requirements can be integrated into a rapid software development process in order to significantly increase the productivity of the development team and shorten time to market of software products and services whilst ensuring appropriate levels of quality. SUPERSEDE - SUpporting evolution and adaptation of PERsonalized Software by Exploiting contextual Data and End-user feedback (2015 - 2018). An European Project (H2020, Topic - Leadership in enabling and industrial technologies, Contract Nr. 644018; E-01318). The SUPERSEDE project proposes a feedback-driven approach for software life cycle management, with the ultimate purpose of improving users’ quality of experience. Decisions on software evolution and runtime adaptation will be made upon analysis of end-user feedback and large amount of data monitored from the context. An integrated platform will articulate the methods and tools produced in the project.
EOSSAC - Engineering Open Source Services and Apps for the Citizens (2014-2016, Researcher). An National Project (TIN2013-44641-P) that consist on proposing models, methods, processes, techniques and tools in the Software Engineering discipline to enable the engineering of high-quality open source software services and apps for the citizen.
RISCOSS- Managing Risk and Cost in Open Source Software Projects (2012-2015, Work Package Leader and UPC Representative). An European Project (FP7, Call 8 - Obj. 1.2; Contract Nr. 318249) risk identification and risk management, mitigation tools and methods for community-based and industry-supported Open Source Software (OSS) development. It will also provide a decision-making management platform to assist OSS adoption decisions into organisations and strategies. Understanding, managing and mitigating OSS adoption risks is crucial in terms of time to market, customer satisfaction and brand image.
